Calling all Artists, Performers, Curators, Producers and Creative Thinkers!

Asian Arts Initiative hopes that the following programs will foster inspiration and dialogue among our diverse audiences  of emerging and professional artists, youth and elders, Asian Americans and non-Asians – through exposure to a wide array of artists, artwork, creative processes, and community issues. In particular, we are interested in projects that address themes or issues that are timely and relevant to the Asian American community in Philadelphia; and/or that engage with the local Chinatown neighborhood.

Call for Proposals: SOCIAL PRACTICE LAB

With support from the Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative, Asian Arts Initiative is planning to launch a Social Practice Lab. As part of this effort, we are pleased to invite artists and creative thinkers from all sectors to propose public art projects that engage with and enliven the community that we share in Chinatown North! We are open to a range of creative projects that can take any shape or format. Projects can range in scope from $1,000 to $20,000, and can extend up to a year in duration. Individuals as well as organizations, for-profit and non-profit, are eligible to propose projects for consideration.

Asian Arts Initiative is especially interested in projects that:

  • Will build relationships and positively impact neighborhood development in Chinatown North
  • Are led by individuals or teams that have capacity to implement their proposed ideas
  • Show artistic strength and innovation
